The "Grande Île" of Madagascar, which is located in the Indian Ocean is acknowledged for growing the very best Vanilla. Producing approximately 1,200 annually, it represents between 70 to 80% of World production.
La SAVA
The North-East region of Madagascar is also known as S.A.V.A. to encompass Sambava, Antalaha, Vohémar and Andapa, the four main towns in the districts of production. It unites all the ideal conditions for Vanilla cultivation : a humid tropical environment with average temperatures between 20°C and 30°C. Rain is abundant from December to March, low in September/October and average for the rest of the year.
